Top 6 Questions you must ask from your Solar Installer

A lot of surveys have shown that 8 out of 10 people are in favor of Renewable energy. As it is an eco-friendly, cost-effective and reliable source of energy. You don’t need to depend on the power companies to supply the required energy as you are making your own from the sun or wind. On the other hand, the increasing cost of fossil fuel, gas and coal, etc is making it difficult to plan long term business ideas because no one knows what will be the upcoming price of the energy unit. On the other hand, a significant decline has been observed in these reserves. Last but not least these sources are a major cause of environmental pollution as either it may coal or fossil fuel both produce carbon as a large scale which is released in the air.

The aforementioned benefits of renewable energy are from the consumer perspective. Let’s see the other side of the picture. i.e. The investors perspective. Keeping in mind the future and a significant demand for energy in daily life a lot of well-known companies have started investing in this business; Apple – The American Tech giant on the top of all in U.S. It is pertinent to mention here that the Solar Industry was awarded as the top employer of 2018 worldwide – International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). This all means that the world is heading towards the renewables swiftly.

Now it’s your turn to step into the green world but the question is which service provider is more professional in your area? Don’t worry! We have prepared a basic questionnaire by which you can find a good solar installer in your area.

In addition to the general questions about renewable and Solar energy in your mind, you should ask the following to ensure that you have hired a reputable company to meet your energy needs.

1) What will be the ROI through this Installation?

If you are planning on purchasing your solar system, the first thing you’ll want to know is how much money you will save. Having a period in mind makes it easier to make meaningful comparisons. 15 to 20 years is a good duration for these estimates. Although a solar energy system will produce power for 25+ years. This will provide you a clear picture of how much you will be saving in the next coming years by these installations.

2)  Inspect their License and Portfolio

Always make sure that you may get the equipment and services of a licensed or certified supplier. It will reduce your risk and stress. Also ask for the experience and some major projects they have done and ROI they succeeded to generate.

3)    Ask for a Site Survey

Never get agree on the quotation given over the phone or via email. Always ask for the survey and get surety that they are not going to damage your fixtures which include roof leakage in case of Solar panels.  If your house roof needs repairs in the future, what will be the method for removing and replacing the solar panels?

4)    What if the system does not produce the agreed amount of energy?

This is a tricky thing. It depends on your contract if you have the equipment and just getting it installed then there is no need to mention this but if you are getting the new equipment and getting it installed from the same installer then you must get an agreement on this. Like, if the system is not producing the exact energy which was promised then is the contractor going to add more photovoltaic cells in the system on his own or will charge you?

5)    Warranty and After-Sales Services

Always insist for warranty coverage even for the test warranty only. Half of your tension gets released when you have warranty coverage. Plus ask the installer if he is going to visit for the regular maintenance of the system on a quarterly or yearly basis for the optimum performance.

6)    Can I add more solar panels to enhance my production in the future?

A number of factors are involved in the decision of upgrading your system later on which includes the size of the panels, the capacity of your inverter and the space available for installations. However, it is suggested to not interrupt your existing system without any major need and if space is available to install a separate system according to your need.
